Hamburg Germany, March 16th, 2026- Personalised Plates Queensland (PPQ) has officially unveiled an exclusive new collection of unique plates in partnership with the emoji company to celebrate the spirit of Queensland and honour some of its most recognisable icons, including the beloved ‘bin chicken’.
The never-before-seen designs bring to life the distinct characters that define Queensland, from the sweet nostalgia of the mango and the everyday hero in a high-vis shirt, to the laid-back koala, the defiant cane toad and Australia’s most polarising native bird, the ‘bin chicken’. Together, they capture the humour, natural beauty and desirable lifestyle that make Queensland what it is.
Building on the success of PPQ’s world-first emoji® brand plate series in 2019, PPQ General Manager, Joshua Lee, said these new designs felt like a natural progression for the Queensland-based organisation.
“At PPQ, creative-expression forms the backbone of everything we do. Through emojis, we wanted to symbolise what makes Queensland so unique, and in turn give Queenslanders new opportunities to express their creativity, pride and humour on the roads and beyond,” Mr Lee said.
“These emoji® brand designs are one-of-a-kind, available only through PPQ, and we are proud to have pioneered the emoji ® brand plate design worldwide.”
Adrian Schrinner, Brisbane Lord Mayor and proud ibis advocate said the new plate range perfectly captures Queensland’s laid-back spirit and sense of humour.
“PPQ’s new emoji® brand plates are a brilliant way to celebrate what makes Queensland, Queensland,” Cr Schrinner said.
“I reckon we’ll be spotting plenty of ‘Bin Chicken’ plates out on the road before long.”
Representing Queensland’s world-renowned wildlife sanctuaries, such as Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in St Lucia, the koala emoji® brand design proudly wears a Maroons jersey to reflect its strong Queensland ties.
Anna Johnston, koala handler at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, said: “We’re so excited to be involved in the launch of PPQ’s new koala emoji® brand plate. Koalas are such an iconic symbol of Queensland – they represent not only our unique wildlife, but the responsibility we all share to protect it.
Here at Lone Pine, caring for and conserving native species like the koala is at the heart of everything we do. Initiatives like this help spark conversations about conservation and remind people how special these animals are to our state. We love seeing a true Queensland icon celebrated in a way that brings a bit of pride to the road. And who wouldn’t want to see a koala in a little Maroons jersey.”
Marco Hüsges CEO of the emoji company said: “Working with Personalised Plates Queensland allows us to bring our brand even deeper into daily life in a uniquely local way.
These new emoji®️designs celebrate the character, humour and identity of Queensland, showing how our brand can turn something as everyday as a licence plate into a joyful form of self-expression.”
The new plates invite Queenslanders to bring humour to the highway and turn their cars into a reflection of their state pride.
Since first launching emoji plates in 2019, more than 4,000 Queenslanders have acquired the format, turning their vehicles into a playful visual display of personality.
The new emoji® brand plates retail for $495 and are available now at ppq.com.au
